Todd is starting school next week so, we have a limited amount of time to explore before all our time is consumed with studying. Monday, he spontaneously suggested we drive to Silver Falls and spend the day hiking. Who am I to disagree with such adventures?

Entering the park we had no idea what to expect, neither of us had been before. At the very head of the first trail this is the site you see. For not having to hike, like, at all, this is a pretty rewarding view.
As you can tell from the picture the trail goes right behind the waterfall! There is an option to keep walking or head back to the top of the Falls. Of course Todd and I decided to keep walking.

The trail was mostly empty since it was a weekday morning. Todd and I talked and splashed in the river along the trail. After half a mile we were greeted by the sound of rushing water. Rounding the corner we could spot steps leading to a SECOND waterfall. This is the lower South Falls.
I am constantly in awe of what Mother Nature has accomplished for us.

We decided to head back after exploring the falls, since the trail was 9 miles long and we only had one water bottle and no snacks. We need to come more prepared next time.
At the park entrance we stopped to get a sandwich that ended up being less exciting than the waterfalls...Just another reason to bring our own snacks next time!
